NCDC’s Digital Platform Speeds Up Test Results Delivery

A Digital Platform launched by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is facilitating the delivery of COVID-19 results in the Federal Capital Territory.

NCDC Head of Department of Surveillance and Epidemiology, revealed this at the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefing on Thursday in Abuja.

According to her, the platform called Surveillance Outbreak Response Management Analysis System (SORMAS), would be used to communicate directly to individuals through SMS alert.

As to its use, she said that individuals would get a code, to enable them to print their results if they wished to, while the authenticity of the result could be checked using a bar code.

The director emphasised that only negative results would be communicated through the platform for now, while positive results would be communicated through the health professionals.

Recall also that NCDC had unveiled a an Interactive Voice Tool (IVR) by which the number – 01-700-6232 is dialed for a COVID-19 assessment.
