Drugs have been an important substance in the world and will continue to be for a very long time.
They have helped everyone from all race and gender, socio-economic status and background, geographical and geopolitical zones.
One truth that has been in the shadows is that these great helpers and assistants are strangers to our bodies, just as the disease or illness they are trying to help us get rid of.
THEY ARE ALIENS IN OUR BODIES.
They are unpredictable in some cases, and predictable in others. They take us away from one health condition and almost always expose us to another.
They help us jump from frying pans to the closest distance to fire or a distance that is barely enough to escape the heat of the fire. They provide us with opportunities to continue with our normal lives but also expose us to a potentially damning conditions as well.
What I am trying to say is, they have our best interests at heart but they are also not completely working for the best interests after all because of the number of side effect they come with. Some of these side effects are even more terrible than the disease condition they are supposed to assist us to tackle.
Therefore, scientists went into rigorous studies of these effect and came up with a “safe window” of usage and termed it dosage. For every drug, there is an amount and a period of time that is safe for us so that we can avoid the effects that come with it.
In compliance of these directives enshrined in the prescription of the drug, is what is called an abuse of the drug.
Drug abuse is using the wrong drug. Drug abuse is using drugs unnecessarily. Drug abuse is using the drugs for a period less than required or advised. Drug abuse is using the drugs for a period more than required or advised.
Wherever abuse is, the aliens in our system begins to fight our body and eventually bring us down. Pay close attention to prescription, be faithful to the advice and requirements. Whatever the number of drugs there are, they are just the perfect number and requirement to help you out of the mess. Trust the process, trust the prescriptions, trust the prescribers.
