The Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare, has directed the management of State Polytechnic, Ozoro and the College of Education, Agbor, to subsume their administrations into the newly established universities.
The new universities are Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro and the University of Delta, Agbor.
The commissioner gave the directive when he visited the universities for inspection of the ongoing projects at the permanent site and the satellite campuses in Owa-Oyibu and Owa-Alero.
According to him, this becomes necessary in order to pave way for a smooth take off of the new universities.
“Since the establishment of the new universities, the positions of the Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro and Provost, College of Education, Agbor, had ceased to exist.
“Consequently, the leadership of those institutions are to handover to the respective Vice-Chancellors of the new universities,” he said.
The commissioner, while inspecting facilities at the Faculties of Law and Management Sciences at the Owa-Oyibu Campus, expressed joy with what were already in place.
He, however, frowned at the slow pace of work at the site of the Faculty of
Engineering building at Owa-Alero.
He, therefore, appealed to all the contractors
engaged by the state government to increase the pace of work without further delay.
He threatened that he would not hesitate to invoke the safety clauses in the contract documents.
Muoboghare also inspected the Administrative Building Complex at the B Main Campus in Agbor, where he advised the site engineers to engage the
services of more workers to complete the project on scheduled as earlier promised.
