The end of year party in Nigerian Schools is organised at the conclusion of 1st term, usually a week to Christmas.

The party, is sometimes dubbed “Christmas Party”, as it is celebrated with a lot of Christmas activities, which usually feature Santa Claus, otherwise know as “Father Christmas”, in local parlance by children.

Although the party may seem like a children affair, adults (teachers and parents) are integral – The party is also thrown to appreciate God’s-given grace to witness the year end.

Parents, teachers, students, and special guests are thus invited to attend the event.

Parents

These are fathers and mothers of the school’s students, who finance the party, by paying the fee required.

Parents are essentially guests. They are there to see their children perform and have fun. Howbeit, they can be called upon for special activities and games, such as Dance, and Q&A (Questions and Answers).

Students

Students are not only performers here. They are also for entertainment, and general fun.

The fee paid for, by parents should be worth every penny, so that the child is delighted and glad to have attended.

Students should be interested in Christmas Carols, Drama, Choreography, Song Presentation (School Choir), Special Presentation (School Clubs), Bible Reading, and Games.

Teachers

Teachers and management organise the party. Initially they determine venue, time, and circulation of information to parents. Then, they pick students that can perform on stage so they can begin rehearsals, and perfect their roles.

At the event, teachers are to arrange seats, organise students, receive parents, and ensure everything is in place.

Although, teachers need to have their share of fun – they can be included in certain games and activities such as Dance and Drama.

Performances For End Of Year Party

Before setting out on planning the order of programme, be very mindful of time, as the party should not be too long or too short.

When an event has the element of general fun and entertainment, it could easily get boring, because some performances may lack engagement and appeal – Monotonous.
