In part one, we were presented with the four Ds of scoring higher grades in examinations, which are: Determine Your New Level, Do Something, Drop Some Things, Distance Yourself from Some Persons.
Before I start to outline other steps you need to take to be able to break even in your studies in this new year, it is critical you know that if you fail to do something new about your learning styles, nothing new occurs in your learning outcome.

- Study Your Books: The word, ‘study’, according to Oxford-Powered Lexico, means the devotion, dedication of time and attention to accessing knowledge, information of an academic subject, especially by means of books. You discover that there is no measure of learning that does not involve books. This means that every detailed investigation for a better score in English Language examination, is connected to the books of English language. If you desire a distinction grade in English Language SSCE or The Use of English in UTME or any English course as an undergraduate, you must be on top of your game, combing the necessary books either electronic or hard copies. In studying, notes are taken so as to be sure of the learning content to apply or recall. Until you are able to jot down some points you come across in a given text, you are not studying but reading. What you do when you study is called consultation.
- Show Your Knowledge: There is no studying that will not give birth to “displaying understanding”. When you consult texts on a subject, the next stage is that of showing or proving yourself. This is by teaching others what you have learnt. This is very significant for retention. Do not hide your Mastery of Maths from your fellow students or your colleagues in the same field.
- Test Your Knowledge: Any knowing that is not tested is not power as we know knowledge is power. How do you test your understanding? Sit Exam or Take Test! Do you realize that some learners ordinarily will want to evade examination, if they have their way? When you have studied and shown yourself as explained above, you need to take a test designed for that subject intentionally.
These steps have been outlined for you for you to stand out in your studies in the year, 2022.
Remember that if you fail to do something, something will definitely do you. There is a prize you must pay for better academic performance.
