As we go through life, there would be ups and downs, the good, bad and ugly. There would be various turns and cue balls that would be thrown at you.
You see or experience all of these hitting you right, left and center. Let’s call all of the above variable factors and you as the individual, we can call the constant factor. For most part, see yourself as the superior element who should get things under control.
Permit me to bring to your concious awareness that you always have a distinct choice to make and this boils down to your style of response.
The way you choose to respond to whatever is thrown at you is a game changer. Most of the time this is taken for granted because in the heat of the moment we temporarily forget it’s consequential.
Contrary to that opinion, it could result in peaceful resolution or further strife.
But you might say this person did so and so and you feel or are actually justified to have reacted in a certain way. It’s fine, you might want to ask yourself certain questions to be sure you’re on the peaceful and love path:
- Am I taking full responsibility for myself and the situation? – Most of the time, we shift responsibility from ourselves to other people. We expect much but give very little. Chose to be the one that would be calm, kind or gentle regardless of the other person.
- Am I allowing any bias to becloud my judgement? – Stick with the real issue on ground and don’t get distracted by unnecessary details, past or present.
- Am I being empathetic? – In other words, are you sensitive or observant, putting yourself in the other person’s shoes.
- Do you have the end goal of peace in mind? – For this part, it is choosing between the option of being right or allowing peace to prevail. For most part, these two would seem mutually exclusive. However, the peace path which is the best option should be allowed to win always.
In most circumstances, it certainly wouldn’t be an easy task especially when you think the other person is wrong and you might experience some hiccups while trying to balance these out. The point here is to choose to operate with the better perspective in mind of pursuing peace for the betterment of everyone.
