Ilorin Airport Auto Crash

An Auto Crash on Sunday morning, along Ilorin International Airport, has claimed the life of a pregnant woman and eight others, as they were burnt to death.

The accident, which occurred around 8:00am involved a commercial passenger bus and a private vehicle. Although, eye witnesses say that one of the vehicles was said to have carried petrol-filled kegs, which would have ignited the fire, this is yet to be confirmed.

Sources gathered by Geeky Nigeria revealed that some students of UNILORIN were among the accident victims. An Eye witnesses at the scene filmed a short video showing the car in flames, and it was first posted on Twitter.

In response to the accident, Unilorin’s Student Union, in a tweet update, expressed dejection over the incident:

“We express our sadness over the occurrence of a fatal bus accident in the early hours of today along Airport road in Ilorin. The 18-seater bus which had some Unilorites on board caught fire few minutes after departing from the park.”

From Sources in the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), it was gathered that the passenger bus loaded at the Gerin Alimi motor park and was heading outwards when it hit the private vehicle, due to over-speeding.
