Ikeja Electric Explains Reason For Persistent Poor Power Supply

Ikeja Electric (IE) has informed its customers on why they have been witnessing persistent poor power supply.

IE revealed, in a public announcement, that poor power supply was due to a drop in power generation, which led the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to initiate load-shedding, which involves “cutting of” of electric power in parts of a distribution system to prevent excessive load.

Earlier this month, TCN explained that the load-shedding, was due to a fire incident, which occurred in Egbin Power station, and brought about the need to shutdown generating units in the power station.

Although, TCN assured that Egbin Power Plant had resumed partial operations after it was shut down, power supply seems to epileptic ever since.

However, Ikeja Electric appeals to customers and calls for their patience, as it reaches out to relevant stakeholders in the electricity value chain:

“Dear Esteemed Customer,  we apologise for the persistent poor power supply you have been experiencing in certain parts of our network. This is due to load shedding by Transmission as a result of drop in power generation.

“We regret the inconvenience this has caused and wish to assure that we are engaging the responsible stake holders in the electricity value chain to improve the situation. Kindly bear with us at this time.”
