The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has commenced its mobile MAP scheme which allows select customers to acquire prepaid meters within 24 hours.
AEDC Mobile Map Scheme starts March 24, 2022, and ends April 1, 2022 (essentially 1 week), and the time is from 9am daily.
According to AEDC, customers in Kubwa, Gbazango, Bwari, Suleja and Zuma areas only can contact their office at Plot 698, Ini Bassey Street Off Arab Road, Kubwa, for their metering.
Geeky Nigeria reports that The MAP scheme is an initiative of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), as it aims allow more electricity customers acquire prepaid meters so as to stop the issues involved in estimated billing.
Meter Asset Providers (MAP) have been accredited and mandated to finance, install, maintain and replace end user electricity meters where applicable.
For AEDC customers, the cost of acquiring a single phase meter is NGN63,061.32; while a three phase meter costs NGN117,910.69.
The major difference between a single phase meter and three phase meter is that the former only needs two wires, while the latter needs three wires. In addition a three-phase power supply is more efficient, and transmits more power than a single phase.
