HTML is to websites what the body organs are to the body.
It is the bones, liver, kidney, lungs, blood, brains, etc. of websites. It’s the essence on which websites are built. It is the very foundation of every site page, and it is one of the languages websites understand.
So, if you want to learn about HTML, continue reading this article. We will discuss everything about HTML here as we create the code and explain it in plain English.
What is HTML?
HTML is the primary website language used for its creation; it gives a site its structure of gadgets, themes, layout, pages, posts, sections, etc.
It structures the overall outlook of the website, creating an interactive platform for creation and engagement among its audience and creator.
What does HTML stand for?
HTML is also known as the markup language for building websites, as stated in the name, which stands for Hyper Text Markup Language.
1. HTML for Website Page Creation.
HTML, through HTML tags, is used to create a web page. Various websites were built using HTML elements, which makes it easier for many developers to modify and redirect their HTML code. HTML, apart from being the foundation on which websites are built, can also use HTML elements to style and design your site to your taste.

6. HTML for Web Document Creation.
Web documents are created using HTML elements, divided into the head, body, and root elements used to make the document page.
How to write HTML.
HTML is the most straightforward coding language among other coding languages because it is effortless to read and understand since it is written in plain English, unlike others; it just has a few symbols on it.
To write HTML, you have to use HTML elements since it’s a set of information that communicates with the web page or browser on what to do. It is usually plain English mixed with symbols to create an interactive web page.
Components of HTML Elements.
Let’s quickly go through the components of HTML elements
1. HTML Tags.
HTML tags indicate the starting and ending of HTML codes.
Opening tag = (<)
Closing tag = (>)
The tags also indicate the content of the particular encoding, such as if you want to add a paragraph to your web page. Embedment will contain the words “This is a paragraph.” in the middle of an opening tag, P, and a closing tag (<p>) at the starting and an opening tag, a right slash, p, and a closing tag. Here is what it looks like:.
<p>This is a paragraph.</p> |
2. HTML Attributes
Unlike HTML elements, which must be included on all sites made with HTML, HTML attributes are unnecessary; you can only use them if your site requires them.
An attribute is the letter or letters you see inside a closing and closing HTML tag. Example: <p> p, in this case, is an HTML attribute.
Other elements have attributes.
Image = <img>
Anchor element = <a>
(for hyperlink)
First Heading = <h1>
Tables = <table>, <tr>, <td>
Audio = <audio>
Video = <video>
Ordered lists = <ol>
Unordered lists = <ul>
List items = <li>
How to Code Using HTML.
IT professionals who have trained and learned the knowledge of website creation are usually called upon when one wants to create a website. However, that does not mean you cannot learn to do it yourself, especially if you don’t have the money to hire a professional.
If you want to create a web page but don’t know how to go about it, follow the steps below to make your first page.
First Step: Go to Your PC and Open Notepad.
On your Windows 8 or above
Click on the start screen on your PC (it’s the window icon at the bottom left of your PC screen). After that, search for Notepad in your search bar.
But if you have a window 7 or older version, Click on Start on your PC screen, then go to programmes, then Accessories, and then Notepad
First Step (2): Download Text Editor Software.
To write in HTML elements and tags, you need to get the text editor software programme; you can write HTML with any text editor, and it will work just the same.
When you open the text editor software, change the preference by clicking Preferences, Format, and then choose Plain Text. Afterwards, go under Open and Save, and click on the box with the inscription “Display HTML files as HTML code instead of formatted text.”
Open a fresh document on Notepad where you will be writing your code.
Second Step: Type in Some HTML Code.
Write the following HTML code on the new document using your code below.
<html> <body> <h1>My First Heading</h1> <p>My first paragraph.</p> </body> </html> |
Third Step: Store and Save Written HTML.
After writing the above code on your Notepad, you must go to Files on your computer and then click the save option in the menu to store the file on your PC. But before you click the Save option, save the file name as “index.htm” or “index.html.” It does not matter which you choose to use; they work the same.
When done, set your encoding to UTF-8, which most web designers use to encode HTML files.
Fourth Step: Open Saved HTML on Your Browser
View the saved HTML file on any browser of your choice. To do this, click twice on said file or right-click and choose the “Open With” option, then select the browser of your choice to view the file on the browser.
Understanding HTML Coding.
HTML is a vital tool to use and learn if you are thinking about pursuing a career in coding. It should be the first coding language you know before anything else. It will help you learn the foundation of website building and better understand web creation when you decide to learn other coding languages.
This will eventually happen in your journey, as you need to know how to add JavaScript for a more interactive website and CSS for styling.
Whatever you do, don’t give up; keep researching and practising. You might be the next big thing in the tech industry.
