The Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IE) has issued a public notice on the removal of unauthorised assets on its poles.
The public notice, announced by IE via its official X handle on Monday, decried the violation displayed by some individuals and corporate organisations who utilise the poles for private and commercial reasons.
“Our attention has been drawn to the flagrant violation and disregard for safety around our electricity poles by individuals and some corporate organizations, for private and commercial use.
“It is imperative to state that these acts not only portend great danger to the perpetrators and members of the public but also inhibit our operations which ultimately affects the quality of service to our esteemed customers.
“To this end, our team of technicians will commence the removal of unauthorized assets on our poles across the six Business units as well as explore available extant laws guiding the use of these facilities, with a bid to prosecute errant offenders to serve as a deterrent to others.
“This information is coming to you as part of our proactive approach to identifying risks and mitigating it, in line with our corporate policy of adhering to world-class safety and regulatory standards for the well-being of customers and staff alike.
