Uber has introduced Store Pickups, a groundbreaking service allowing consumers to easily arrange for parcels or purchased items to be picked up or delivered.
This innovative feature is part of Uber’s Package product, now rebranded as Courier.
With Courier, users can book a delivery person to collect prepaid items from stores, whether bought in-store or online, making same-day deliveries faster and more convenient.
Tope Akinwumi, Uber’s Country Manager for Nigeria, emphasized the company’s commitment to understanding and addressing the evolving needs of its consumer base.
“We aim to stay close to the evolving needs of our consumer base and the introduction of Store Pickups with Courier demonstrates this understanding.
“With Courier, one can send or receive items and also have purchased items picked up in-store, providing convenience for consumers and allowing them to spend more time with loved ones this festive season,
“The introduction of Store Pickups with Courier demonstrates our dedication to providing convenience for consumers, enabling them to spend more time with loved ones during the festive season,” Akinwumi stated.
To utilise the service, users simply need to prepare their item for pickup, select “Courier” on the Uber app, choose the delivery type (send or receive), input the pickup and delivery addresses, and review the terms and conditions.
Users can upload a picture of their receipt and provide specific instructions for the driver. The driver can also interact with the store on the customer’s behalf. Once confirmed, users can monitor the delivery progress in real-time via the app.
Safety remains a top priority for Uber. Store Pickups incorporates Live Tracking, allowing users to follow the pickup and delivery of their items, and PIN Verification, providing a unique PIN for verification of correct item collection or delivery.
Store Pickups is currently available in Lagos, with plans to expand to other key cities soon.
