The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has acknowledged its staff loyalty through the long service award ceremony for the 2023/2024 (55th) convocation at the Akoka main campus.
This annual celebration recognizes esteemed staff members who have dedicated significant years of their lives to the advancement of the university. The event is taking place in the Tolu Odugbemi Hall, a fitting venue for this momentous occasion.
In her welcome address, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, the Vice-Chancellor, congratulated the awardees for their meritorious service to the institution.
She encouraged them to view this period as not only a time of reflection but also an opportunity to set new goals and ambitions. Professor Ogunsola emphasised that retirement is not a time to stop moving forward, but rather a new chance to reflect on and actualize important goals in their lives.
Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), celebrated the retirees, highlighting their invaluable contributions to the university’s development over the years.
Professor Oluyemisi Obashoro-John, who delivered the Award Lecture, encouraged the retirees to take advantage of this new chapter in their lives, emphasizing the importance of self-care after years of dedicated service.
The honourees included both academic and non-academic staff from the institution, all of whom have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the university’s mission.
As part of the 55th convocation ceremonies, this long service award ceremony serves as a testament to the university’s appreciation for its dedicated staff members.
