Landlords Association in Ika North East and Ika South Local Government areas of Delta inaugurated a 10-man Committee on electricity supply.
The committee was set up in an inauguration ceremony at the Office of the Manager, Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) with the aim of improving the quality of electricity supply in the local government areas.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President of Ika Landlords/Landladies Association, Mr Vincent Arimokwu said that the need to set up a committee arose after their last meeting to help bridge the communication gap between BEDC and her consumers in Ika land.
“We have collectively and successfully appointed a 10-man committee from the various committees and associations in Ika nation to serve as Ika Landlords/Landladies Association electricity supply/customer committee.”
“The Committee is to work hand in hand with the BEDC Manager at all times. Attend to all complaints about electricity supply in communities in Ika land and proffer solutions in line with the stipulated guidelines by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
”Importantly the committee will ensure that all electricity consumers in Ika nation are issued with prepaid meters without any pre-condition.” He added
Arimokwu also said that Committee would ensure that all electricity transformers donated by individuals and communities were energized and connected for use by customers without delay.
According to him, the committee will also to ensure that BEDC take responsibilities of maintaining all their equipments and the replacement of damaged ones, including meters and electric poles and put a stop in the shifting of its responsibility of replacement of the damaged equipment to their consumers.
Responding on behalf of the Committee, Mr Godwin Idiaghe pledged to be committed while soliciting for the support and cooperation of Ika people whenever the need arose.
