Lagos state government has launched an educational television programme tagged: “The Total Education Show”.
The educational TV show aims to maintain an all-round continuous learning for private and public school students in Lagos so as to keep them connected to their studies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, disclosed on Tuesday, that it is an intervention concept by the Ministry which is aimed at enriching the students’ knowledge with educational programmes, in addition to the existing curriculum of daily radio, television and online classes.
She stated that the focus area of the programme will include Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STREAM), Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) and Child Protection Advocacy against Child Abuse, while stressing that the show will enlighten the children and provide an opportunity to learn other skills for future purposes.
“The Show will be aired on Television Continental (TVC) Entertainment and GOTV Channel 27, every Monday and Thursday at 4:30 pm on both days. The viewers can also send their suggestions through SMS/Whatsapp to the telephone number: 08126601889”, she disclosed.
“The children can also watch previous episodes of the educational programme on LASG YouTube Page by searching for “The Total Education Show” or follow comments about the programme on the social media handle of the Ministry @lasgeducation”, she added.
The Commissioner called on parents to support the Government’s efforts by ensuring that their children have access to these programmes, as it will improve their knowledge and learning ability during their stay at home.
She assured that the children will be back to school as soon as the Coronavirus pandemic is effectively contained.
