The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim has commended the invention of a T-Smart device by a corps member.
The T-Smart body-temperature reading device would aid efforts to contain COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement by Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, the Director, Press and Public Relations of NYSC, the NYSC boss commended the corps member, Taiwo Durodola, for the Invention.
According to Ibrahim, it was heartwarming to note that corps member, Durodola, serving in Nasarawa State has taken the fight against the virus a notch higher through the invention of T-Smart.
He noted that the device does not require human intervention while in operation, and can be monitored remotely.
Ibrahim said the device was highly sensitive and accurate, with a resolution of 0.02 degree Celsius, which made it possible to detect the smallest change in human body temperature.
“In-built alarm system is another wonderful feature of the device which has been produced from locally sourced raw materials,” Ibrahim said.
He said this was in response to the NYSC challenge thrown to corps members creative ingenuity arising from the virus.
According to Ibrahim, the members had taken up the gauntlet and continued to amaze Nigerians with so many inventions tailored toward stemming the spread of the virus.
“In the past few months, some corps members across the country have come up with a number of inventions in response to the challenge thrown by NYSC.
“It underscores the centrality of the scheme as catalyst for unity and national development.
“Devices such as disinfection chambers, pedal- operated water, soap and sanitiser dispensers have been invented and donated to the Federal and State Governments, as well as some communities,” he said.
“The NYSC boss said this was part of efforts by the scheme to battle COVID-19, which regrettably remained a formidable enemy that must be defeated.” he said.
