Dec 2 – Africa’s first humanoid robot unveiled
Nigeria unveiled Africa’s first humanoid robot. The unveiling took place on Friday 2nd December 2022 in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. Omeife is a female-looking humanoid robot developed by the Uniccon Group of Companies.
The robot is aimed to provide languages as a service for businesses that need to integrate African audiences. It is programmed to speak 8 different languages which are Pidgin, Yoruba, English, French, Arabic, Kiswahili, Hausa, Igbo.
Omeife was first unveiled on 10 October 2022 at the GITEX technology event at the Dubai World Trade Cebter, UAE. She is a six-foot-tall female humanoid with near-human resemblance, language competency, movement, navigation, and behavioural intelligence using AI and Computer Vision capabilities.
Dec 15 – Redesigned Naira Notes Enters Circulation
The new naira entered into circulation on December 15, 2022.
According to the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, banks have been receiving the new notes and have started dispensing them.
