The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Foundation has commenced its 2024 edition of the National Essay Competition for Senior Secondary Students.
The National Essay Competition, organised by UBA Foundation, aims to promote reading culture and intellectual competition among senior secondary students in Nigeria and Africa. This annual competition is open to Nigerian senior secondary school students.
The topic for the 2024 National Essay Competition is “The Impact of Carbon Emission on Climate Change in Nigeria: Discuss the Challenges and Profer Solutions”.
To apply, you’ll need to:
- Provide a handwritten essay (750 words max)
- Upload a recent passport photograph
- Upload a scanned birth certificate, national ID, or international passport
A panel of professors from reputable Nigerian universities will review entries, shortlisting 75 essays for a regional test. Twenty finalists will then compete in the final round at UBA Head Office, Lagos.
Prizes
Winner: N7.5 million to any African university
1st Runner-Up: N5 million
2nd Runner-Up: N3.5 million
Best 75 essays: N75,000 each
