The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the registration and examination dates for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Prospective candidates can start registering on January 31, 2025, and the process will close on March 5, 2025.
According to Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB’s registrar and chief executive officer, the 2025 UTME will commence on March 8, 2025.
A mock examination has been scheduled for February 23, 2025, for candidates who wish to participate. To ensure a smooth registration process, all candidates must meet the mandatory requirements, including providing their National Identification Number (NIN).
The NIN will be used to create a profile code, which is a prerequisite for the registration process. Candidates are required to send their NIN via text to either 55019 or 66019 to generate the code.
The registration fees vary depending on the type of examination: ₦8,200 for those opting for the mock examination, ₦7,200 for those sitting only for the UTME, and ₦5,700 for Direct Entry (DE) candidates.
Oloyede explained that the mock examination is designed to familiarize candidates with the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) format and enhance their preparation.
JAMB has also introduced a separate trial-testing mock for candidates below 16 years old who wish to experience the CBT process without participating in the main UTME.
To accommodate the growing number of candidates, JAMB has approved 870 computer-based test centers for the 2025 UTME, an increase from the 747 centers used in 2024. The board aims to minimize technical challenges and ensure a seamless experience for all participants.
JAMB has reaffirmed its commitment to providing candidates with an improved registration and examination process.
Oloyede advised candidates to prepare early by creating their profiles, gathering necessary documents, and staying updated through JAMB’s official platforms. He emphasized that registration must be completed within the designated window, as late submissions will not be entertained.
