Access Bank Plc has initiated the registration process for Nigerians living abroad under the newly introduced Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) platform.
This development follows the successful rollout of the NRBVN platform by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS), enabling non-resident Nigerians to enroll for their Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) without the need to travel to Nigeria. The BVN is a crucial requirement for accessing various financial services in the country.
To facilitate this initiative, Access Bank has established designated registration centers in key international locations, including the United Kingdom, the United States, parts of Europe, and the Middle East. This strategic move allows Nigerians abroad to complete their BVN registration seamlessly.
According to Roosevelt Ogbonna, Managing Director and CEO of Access Bank Plc, “We commend the Central Bank of Nigeria and NIBSS for the successful rollout of the NRBVN platform. This is a bold step toward integrating millions of Nigerians abroad into the country’s financial system.”
The NRBVN platform is designed to provide non-resident Nigerians with access to a wide range of banking services. With this initiative, diaspora customers can now open accounts, access customized products such as mortgage plans and solar financing, and invest in Nigerian real estate, mutual funds, and fixed deposits.
They will also have 24/7 access to a dedicated customer support team. The initiative aligns with the Central Bank’s broader financial inclusion strategy, aimed at deepening financial identity, formalizing remittance inflows, and bridging access gaps for Nigerians regardless of their location.
This development is expected to enhance the banking experience for Nigerians living abroad, providing them with greater flexibility and access to financial services.
