The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of MTN Nigeria, MTN Foundation has handed over an E-library to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
The handover was in honour of Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, the foundation chairman, who recently clocked 80.
Prince Adelusi-Adeluyi is a former Minister of Health and Social Services, a past Group Chairman of Oodua Investment Conglomerate, and a founding and distinguished Fellow of the Institute of Directors (DFIoD), Nigeria.
The virtual handover event was aired live on youtube. and hosted by Dakore Egbuson-Akande, an award-winning performing artist, and Afeez Oyetoro, a comic actor, popularly known as “Saka”.
According to MTN Foundation, E-library is expected to empower students for a formidable future in the new digital era, as the the world has gone digital.
The Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Prof E.O. Ogunbodede, in his acknowledgment said the university’s 100% accreditation score was largely due to the E-Library’s impact.
In appreciation for the benevolence, the Deputy VIce-Chancellor Prof Chris Ajila, DVC Administration, OAU
bestowed an award to the Chairman, on behalf of the university.
The award reads: “In appreciation of the generous donation of your personal library collections and for facilitating the setting-up of E-library by the MTN Foundation in the HEZEKIAH OLUWASANMI LIBRARY, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife”
Director of MTN Foundation, Mr Dennis Okoro, in his closing remarks, regarded the chairman as his ‘younger brother and friend’. He also teased him on how to look 40 forever!
