The Nigeria Youth Futures Fund grant is designed to empower youth ecosystem development nationwide by providing critical funding to organizations that can serve as regional hubs. These hubs will work in line with specific thematic areas of interest, driving positive change and promoting youth leadership in Nigeria.
The grant’s primary objective is to strengthen, support, and promote youth ecosystem building in the country. The initiative aims to create a vibrant youth ecosystem that contributes to Nigeria’s long-term development plans. This approach recognizes the importance of empowering young people to shape their own futures and drive sustainable development.
Key Thematic Areas for Funding
- Facilitating Good Governance: This theme focuses on youth-driven projects promoting active citizenship through leadership development, institutional strengthening, accountability, transparency initiatives, and equitable policies at national and subnational levels.
- Resolving Fundamental National Questions: This theme prioritizes projects promoting national values, empathy, patriotism, unity, peace, and equity.
Sub-Themes and Focus Areas
- Interventions on the Review, Domestication and Implementation of National/State Youth Policy: Supporting policy review, awareness, and domestication of youth policies at local, state, and national levels.
- Autonomy and Efficiency of Local Government Administration: Strengthening local government areas, promoting judicious resource use, and financial autonomy.
- Social Inclusion: Addressing gender equality, proper inclusion for People With Disabilities (PWDs), and implementation of the Disability Act.
- Depolarization: Community engagement plans tackling polarization, promoting national integration, and socialization.
