Yeye Dupe Adeleke-Sanni Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation has organised an empowerment programme for vulnerable women in Osun.
Mrs Dupe Adeleke-Sanni, the founder of the foundation, said during the event in Ede town, that the gesture was geared towards empowering women to be financially stable under the present economic realities.
Geeky Nigeria reports that the equipments distributed included; 50 mini-buses, 100 deep freezers, 50 grinding machines, 50 sewing machines, 10 hair dryers and undisclosed cash amounts
Adeleke-Sanni, who is also the elder sister of Gov. Ademola Adeleke, said that 50 minibuses, 100 deep freezers, grinding machines and other equipment would be given to some women to start up a business to support their families.
She said that the items would be distributed for free from her capacity and with the support of her elder brother, Dr Deji Adeleke.
“This will not be the end of the empowerment as other people will benefit from another round of the scheme soon”, she said.
Adeleke-Sanni urged the beneficiaries to ensure that they make the best use of the equipment to prosper themselves.
In his remarks, Gov. Adeleke appreciated the good works of his sister in providing for the needy, urging the rich and influential indigenes of the state to emulate her good gesture.
The governor stressed the need for rich and influential individuals to support the government in giving back to the masses in order to make society a better place.
The governor, however, said that the spirit of giving runs in Adeleke’s family.
He said the act of giving makes society grow faster, urging others to emulate Adeleke’s act of giving to the needy
“I am happy to associate with my sister and mother as she keeps the family tradition growing.
“This is a very commendable action and I know that this is a completely private venture
“Society grows best when we love our neighbours as ourselves. This is the tradition in my family and I am happy my sister is pulling this through”, he said.
