Glovo has launched a Women in Tech Bootcamp in partnership with She Code Africa and the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce. This initiative provides 100 women with fully funded scholarships to acquire essential digital skills and excel in the tech industry.
The Glovo Women in Tech Bootcamp is a comprehensive program designed to empower women with the technical and professional skills necessary to succeed in the tech industry. It focuses on cultivating a talented cohort of women proficient in web and mobile development, equipping them with in-demand skills to enhance their employability and career advancement prospects in software engineering.
Through a 12-week intensive curriculum hosted by the esteemed She Code Africa School of Engineering, participants will gain hands-on expertise in key areas of software engineering. The program’s core courses include:
- Mobile Development using Flutter
- Backend Development with Node JavaScript
- Frontend Development with React JavaScript
According to Mrs Lamide Akinola, General Manager of Glovo Nigeria, the groundbreaking Women in Tech Bootcamp was made possible through a strategic partnership, and it offers fully funded scholarships to empower women in the tech industry.
“These bootcamps are a key part of Glovo’s global mission to drive gender equality and create a more diverse and innovative tech ecosystem.
“This initiative builds on Glovo’s broader efforts across various countries, including Spain, Ghana, and Morocco where similar programs have been implemented to address the gender imbalance in tech.
“In Spain and Ghana, over 100 women have benefited from hands-on training, access to industry mentors, and career placement opportunities whilst Morocco is set to kickoff in November as well.
“The tangible impact of these initiatives reinforces Glovo’s commitment to creating long-term change in the tech industry and fostering an inclusive digital economy,” she said.
